Further Information on: 22nd Scottish Country Dancing Week

May 26th to 31st 2008

Programme

Our week begins with sherry in the Village Hall at 6 o’clock on Monday May 26th, followed by dinner (for those who have booked it) at 6.30. We will then dance until 10.30 or so. The dance programmes will be circulated in time for you to have a look at them.

For the rest of the week, there will be workshops in the mornings, and afternoons are free, giving you the opportunity for outings afoot or awheel, or just much-needed rest!

For those who like to make a full week of it we have a dance on the previous Saturday, May 24th, at 7.30 at Morland Village Hall. Dulcie Bond will be the MC for the evening, and recorded music will be provided by her and Paul.  Let us know if you would like us to arrange for your accommodation to be extended to cover the extra two nights.

We welcome visitors to our sessions, but as space is limited, particularly in the evenings, we must try to keep control of the numbers. If you would like to join us, please let us know in advance. The price for a whole morning or an evening is £7.00.

Staff

Malcolm Brown will again be sharing the instructing with Avis Harrison - they make a great team and we are looking forward to another stimulating week.

On the music front, we have last year's team again. Chris Dewhurst and his (family) Scottish Country Dance Band are now a well-established feature of the Week and they will play for us in the evenings with Paul Bond as MC, doubtless aided and abetted by Dulcie. Playing for the morning classes will be shared between Chris and Jenny Jones (the other half of Newby End, for those who don't know!)

Accommodation

We have, at Newby End Farm, a caravan and camp site with showers, washhouse, WC, electric hook-ups and Elsan disposal point. This is available throughout the season and you are welcome to extend your stay before or after the Country Dance Week.

For those who prefer the luxury of bed-and-breakfast, we have a very limited number of places in or near Morland where this can be arranged at a price of £18.00 per head per night. When we run out of these, or if you prefer more luxury, there are holiday cottages, other B&Bs and various small hotels in the area. We will gladly send you a list of these on request.

Meals

Meals in the Village Hall will again be provided by Jackie Kirkpatrick and her team from Eden Valley Catering. Light lunches cost £4.30, and the 3-course Dinners cost £9.40. You can't get better value than that!
